Here are answers to the commonly asked questions about where to resell Painted Ponies, and what their current value is:

When collectors choose to resell their Painted Ponies, we recommend doing so on eBay. There is also a Facebook group, which was set up by Painted Ponies collectors and is not monitored by The Trail of Painted Corporate Office, where you can offer your Painted Ponies for sale. Here is a link to that Facebook group:

To find the current perceived value of your Painted Ponies, we suggest searching on eBay for the same figurine with a similar edition number. If you have an eBay account, you can look up what that particular figurine has sold for recently, and that will give you an even more accurate perceived value.

why do some ponies have a name plate and others do not?
Response From Trailmaster:
For the first seven years the Painted Ponies did not have title plates added to the base. When we transitioned to a new manufacturer three years ago, we decided to add title plates, which now appear on all Painted Pony figurines.

so the standard edition is # diffrent than 1st edition? so if you pre order is that a standard or 1st edition??
Response From Trailmaster:
Standard Edition simply means it is not an Autographed Edition. Standard Editions that are ordered early are usually low-numbered and first editions.

My sister and I have finally found our Mr rights a couple years ago. Her husband has many tattoos. Mine really likes Batman as he IS the dark Knight. I once referred to them as our painted ponies. Is there or will there be any ponies that celebrate those?
Response From Trailmaster:
Any Painted Pony that features imagery owned by another company, or movie studio, must first negotiate costly permissions. It would be fun to create a "Dark Knight" figurine, but cost-prohibitive.

Holli from Oregon wrote on June 03, 2014:
What does the phrase Standard Edition mean? Will that item be numbered?
Response From Trailmaster:
Because there are so many variations to Trail of Painted Pony figurines of interest to collectors - first edition, low edition number, autographed, retired - and these are usually higher priced, we wanted to come up with a term that meant a sequentially numbered figurine similar to those available in retail stores, the only difference being it was purchased from and backed by customer support and service available on our Official Store. Standard does seem a little plain, and as is evident by your question, confusing. So perhaps we need to find a better word.

Vicki from Huntersville, NC wrote on June 03, 2014:
Is there a painted pony with either a Hawk motif or a wolf motif?
Response From Trailmaster:
Yes, "Twilight Hunters," created by Lori Musil, features a wolf pack running on each side of the Pony.

Is there a policeman to go with the painted pony in police tack?
Response From Trailmaster:
No.

Carey from Cheyenne, WY wrote on May 29, 2014:
How does the serial numbering system work? How do you know if you have a low numbering pony or one that has been really popular and easier to get?
Response From Trailmaster:
I'm not sure I understand your questions. Painted Pony figurines are sequentially hand-numbered in the order they are produced. The number appears on the underside of the base. Really popular Ponies sell faster and thus may be harder to get at first, and there will be more of them crafted.

Christa from California wrote on May 27, 2014:
Is there more than one edition of any of the Christmas ornaments?
Response From Trailmaster:
We do not number the Holiday ornaments so even if more than 10,000 were crafted, there would only be one edition.

John DiMauro from South Carolina wrote on May 24, 2014:
I have a 1E/Showroom Sample of For Spacious Skies, What is it worth and why does it say Showroom sample instead of a #? is it a rare piece?
Response From Trailmaster:
With each new release of Painted Ponies, a few sample pieces are created for display in the manufacturer's showroom. These are not for sale and not supposed to enter general circulation, but sometimes that has happened. You have an example. This makes the figurine an anomaly, but as far as adding value, that would really depend on whether someone else perceived it to have special value because it is different.

Meme from Florida wrote on May 21, 2014:
On your "Paint Your Own" ponies and ornaments you state that paints are not included. Do you give directions &/or suggestions as to what paints work best?
Response From Trailmaster:
Good question. We did not include paints in the "Paint Your Own" kits because every artist seems to have a different kind of paint they prefer to work with. Some like acrylic, some oil-based. Some like primary colors, some more exotic metallic colors. Same with brushes. The preferred size of the brush will depend on the design. Our advice is to check with a local crafts store - Michaels or JoAnns - and/or an artist paint supply store and consult with someone who knows paints. The search will not only be interesting, it could lead in unanticipated directions.
