We try to answer questions daily. Questions are not posted until they are answered.

Here are answers to the commonly asked questions about where to resell Painted Ponies, and what their current value is:

When collectors choose to resell their Painted Ponies, we recommend doing so on eBay. There is also a Facebook group, which was set up by Painted Ponies collectors and is not monitored by The Trail of Painted Corporate Office, where you can offer your Painted Ponies for sale. Here is a link to that Facebook group:

To find the current perceived value of your Painted Ponies, we suggest searching on eBay for the same figurine with a similar edition number. If you have an eBay account, you can look up what that particular figurine has sold for recently, and that will give you an even more accurate perceived value.

I am interested in painting my own life size pony. How can I get info on how to purchase an unpainted ready to paint pony?
Response From Trailmaster:
We do not retail life-size Painted Pony forms. All that we produced were featured in the public art project, which ended almost a decade ago. If you go online you may be able to find other companies that offer life-size fiberglass horse forms for sale.

Kathleen Ryder from New Mexico wrote on December 03, 2014:
did they make a solid red painted pony and if so how can one obtain one? Thank you!
Response From Trailmaster:
We have created Ponies that certainly have red color schemes in the design, but te only "solid red" Pony was the retired "Fallen Heroes Memorial Pony."

Amanda from Canada wrote on November 29, 2014:
How do you choose the artists for the painted ponies and can anyone try to submit a pattern?
Response From Trailmaster:
Every week we receive new Painted Pony submissions. There is a feature on our Homepage where Artists can download a template for Painted Ponies in different positions. We invite you to use it. A number of considerations go into the selection of a design, including originality, execution, whether it is too similar to an earlier Pony, and if we believe it will be popular among collectors.

Where painted ponies bought out by horse or a different color
Response From Trailmaster:
In 2010 The Trail of Painted Ponies transitioned to a new manufacturer, who has continued the quality and tradition of The Trail. The previous manufacturer created a knock-off line of horse figurines, which is Horse of a Different Color and has nothing to do with The Trail of Painted Ponies.

I want to buy several Paint Your Own Pony kits but when I went in to order it only shows 2 available: Trotting and Regal. I wanted at least one of each of the 6 Pony styles. Are the other Ponys going to be available again? When? Thank You
Response From Trailmaster:
Currently, the Paint Your Own Pony kits are available only in the trotting and regal form, and the four-ornament set, and they can only be purchased on our Official Store. You may be able to find the Painted Pony rearing and running forms at some local retailers or on eBay.

I just bought a horse for my niece to paint herself. What kind of paints will I need to buy?
Response From Trailmaster:
We would recommend that you take your niece to a local crafts store - Michaels, JoAnns, Hobby Lobby - and let her pick out the paints and colors she wants to use, which will depend on the designs she has in mind. Acrylic paints are the easiest to use, and they come in variety of colors, some with metallic and sparkly highlights added.

Why havent you made a Breast Cancer themed pony ?
Response From Trailmaster:
I'm sure this question has occurred to others who have seen our Facebook posts featuring Breast Cancer Awareness Painted Pony designs. To be perfectly honest, it comes down to dollars and cents. Our manufacturer, who invests in the production of Painted Pony figurines, needs to feel that the designs it goes forward with will have a wide public appeal. They are just not sure that a Pony themed on Breast Cancer will perform well in the marketplace, unless we have a marketing partner. That is, a Breast Cancer Awareness organization that would help promote and publicize the Pony, in return for a percentage of the profits of sales. To date, we have been unable to identify such a partner. If you happen to know of an organization that finds this idea intriguing, please, have them get in touch with me. I would love to have a Pony created on this theme.

Have you guys ever done any custom ponies? Like pregnancy announcements?
Response From Trailmaster:
If by "custom ponies" you mean Painted Ponies that celebrate specific occasions, yes, we of course to the Holiday Ponies to hail the Christmas Season, we have created a "Birthday Pony," and in 2015 we are coming out with a lovely "Wedding Pony." As for a "Pregnancy Announcement Pony," the closest we've come are the two Mare and Foal Ponies - "Painted Harmony" and "A Star is Born."

I noticed you have a 2014 Trail of Painted Ponies Calendar. Do you know when the 2015 calendar is coming out? My sister in law loves to collect the ponies, and I thought this would be something great to go with the pony I bought her this year. Thanks
Response From Trailmaster:
Under the Collectors dropdown menu, there is a FREE 2015 Calendar download link. You can print out your very own 2015 calendar there. Merry Christmas.
