We try to answer questions daily. Questions are not posted until they are answered.

Here are answers to the commonly asked questions about where to resell Painted Ponies, and what their current value is:

When collectors choose to resell their Painted Ponies, we recommend doing so on eBay. There is also a Facebook group, which was set up by Painted Ponies collectors and is not monitored by The Trail of Painted Corporate Office, where you can offer your Painted Ponies for sale. Here is a link to that Facebook group:

To find the current perceived value of your Painted Ponies, we suggest searching on eBay for the same figurine with a similar edition number. If you have an eBay account, you can look up what that particular figurine has sold for recently, and that will give you an even more accurate perceived value.

In my 8th grade class, we studied the Painted Ponies, I poured plaster horse molds for 55 students. I have 2 designs that I think are very good. Is there an age limit to submit designs for a Painted Ponie?
Response From Trailmaster:
Good for you. We love hearing stories about teachers who have been inspired by The Trail. Please take tood photos from different angles of the designs you feel strongly about, and send them to us. There have been several Painted Pony figurines crafted from artwork created by students, and we would welcome more.

I am an artist and I collect the ponies, I have decided to design one and wanted to know how the other artists add the extras on the form such as a saddle or wings etc.....
Response From Trailmaster:
If you go to your local hobby store, JoAnns or Michaels, you should be able to find a variety of attachments that can be easily glued to your Pony.

Could you please tell me the name of the pony painted by Lyn Vanlandingham?
Response From Trailmaster:
The title of Lyn's Painted Pony was "Lighthorse," and it featured a painting on each side of a lighthouse.

It is not really possible to call you to ask about shipping due to the different time zones. Can you please tell me how much it would cost to ship one painted pony to Victoria Australia? Thank you
Response From Trailmaster:
It should be a lot more affordable to purchase the Pony directly from a local retailer. Are you having trouble finding someone who is carrying the particular Pony you want?

WHERE ARE THE ORIGINAL LARGE PAINTED PONIES ON EXHIBIT? IN ANY CITY? DO THEY MOVE?
Response From Trailmaster:
There was a time when we had over 100 life-size Painted Ponies corralled in one place that was open to the publicm and they were a huge attraction. But that was in 2001 in Santa Fe, and after a series of auctions, the Ponies were released and went in different directions. Two are on exhibit at the Booth Museum of Western Art in Cartersville, Georgia, and to our knowledge that is the single largest grouping available for public viewing today.

I want to design and submit my own pony. What is the process after submission? What is my cost to purchase my (designed) horse?
Response From Trailmaster:
If you would like to submit the design of a pony you have painted, you should first purchase the form from our official website store (a new form will be available towards the end of September), and after you are finished embellishing it, send us quality photographs from different angles, along with information about yourself, and the story behind your Pony. We will get back in touch with you. Thanks for your interest.

I purchased your blank pony ornaments. I would like to know how to embellish them. Do the artist use fimo type clays? How to I get 3-D on my ornaments
Response From Trailmaster:
Different artists work with different materials. When I asked one of our artists who regularly embellishes the PYOPs she recommended Epoxy Putty, which can be found at any hardware or hobby store. You hand-mix the two parts together and create the shape you want on the form. Then you can carve, sand and paint the embellishment. Good luck and send us pix.
