We try to answer questions daily. Questions are not posted until they are answered.

Here are answers to the commonly asked questions about where to resell Painted Ponies, and what their current value is:

When collectors choose to resell their Painted Ponies, we recommend doing so on eBay. There is also a Facebook group, which was set up by Painted Ponies collectors and is not monitored by The Trail of Painted Corporate Office, where you can offer your Painted Ponies for sale. Here is a link to that Facebook group:

To find the current perceived value of your Painted Ponies, we suggest searching on eBay for the same figurine with a similar edition number. If you have an eBay account, you can look up what that particular figurine has sold for recently, and that will give you an even more accurate perceived value.

I have 219 Ponies starting with Winter 2003 up throught Spring 2012. I have some exclusive releases, some signed by artist. All Boxes, and all but 1 or 2 tags. I am wanting to sell them and wondering the best way to do this? I would really like to sell them as a whole if that would be possible. What do you suggest? Thank you for your time.
Response From Trailmaster:
I wish we could give you an answer that would satisfy you. You have a valuable collection of Painted Ponies, but as for how to sell them intact as a whole group, we really can't say. Over the years we have been approached by several horse museums that were interested in an exhibition of all the Ponies, but they wanted to display not purchase them. If anyone reads this who has an idea, please share.

Debbie from OK wrote on October 31, 2021:
Which is more valuable or is there a difference; a first edition with a high number or a third edition with a low number? Also, is a "sample" valued different? Thank you.
Response From Trailmaster:
There is no Bible with the value of Painted Ponies in it. Many factors come into play. But I would say that in the eyes of most serious collectors, a first edition is more desirable than a third edition, no matter the number. As for Samples, they are in a category of their own because so few were produced. They are like a limited edition within the open edition.

Tina Waters from Scotland UK wrote on October 31, 2021:
Have you any information on Horse of a different colour like are they still made ,how many were made etc
Response From Trailmaster:
The "Horse of a Different Color" line, which was a knock-off of The Trail of Painted Ponies by our former manufacturer, ended when Westland, the manufacturing company, went out of business. We have no information on how many figurines were made.

I have a horse form that I purchased some time ago and have painted, can I photograph it on all sides and submit that as my entry.
Response From Trailmaster:
Yes but you better hurry up. We are judging the last submissions to come in today, Monday, November 1.

When will Dillard’s “The Gift” be announced and ready for purchase?
Response From Trailmaster:
Shortly. Like a lot of other businesses, we have had to deal with supply chain issues. A container full of Holiday Ponies has been sitting in a rail yard in Chicago for over a month. But we just received news that it will be moved ths week. The Dillards special should be available within two weeks.

I have a trail of painted ponies with item no. 12262 twilight hunters, does it have any other name and is it worth anything?
Response From Trailmaster:
It has no other name and it is worth what you paid, at least, and possibly more depending on how desirable another collector finds it.

FRAN from NV wrote on October 24, 2021:
Do you buy retired painted ponies? Thanks, Fran
Response From Trailmaster:
Sometimes, if it was a bestseller, is hard to find, and is in excellent condition, we will purchase a retired Pony.

My Tewa Horse has 5E/2.701 copyright 2004 and Trail of Painted Ponies LLC. What edition might it be?
Response From Trailmaster:
Fifth edition. That's what the 5E represents.

Betty Soohy from 17737 wrote on October 18, 2021:
Are painted pony figurines worth anything without their boxes & styrafoam? I lost all of these in a flood.
Response From Trailmaster:
Serious collectors will want the original boxes that the Pony came in. That doesn't mean there aren't still collectors who will value the Painted Pony itself, however.
