We try to answer questions daily. Questions are not posted until they are answered.

Here are answers to the commonly asked questions about where to resell Painted Ponies, and what their current value is:

When collectors choose to resell their Painted Ponies, we recommend doing so on eBay. There is also a Facebook group, which was set up by Painted Ponies collectors and is not monitored by The Trail of Painted Corporate Office, where you can offer your Painted Ponies for sale. Here is a link to that Facebook group:

To find the current perceived value of your Painted Ponies, we suggest searching on eBay for the same figurine with a similar edition number. If you have an eBay account, you can look up what that particular figurine has sold for recently, and that will give you an even more accurate perceived value.

Can you tell me who sculpted the mold that is the base for Native Paint, Eagle Spirit, Unicorn Magic, Legend of the Blue Horse, and a few others. I know the artist varies but who initially sculpted this model horse. Thank you so much for your time.
Response From Trailmaster:
Kathleen Moody, a notable equine sculptor who lives in Phoenix.

When will the paint your own horses be back in stock? I’m really wanting to get the triumphant horse to paint.
Response From Trailmaster:
I wish we could give you more encouraging news about Paint Your Own Pony kits. Unfortunately, for reasons I won't go into, they became prohibitively expensive to produce - which means their cost to consumers would be prohibitively high too. We just haven't been comfortable proceeding until costs come down.

Do any of your painted ponies (reg sized) have sheep or goats on them? I see the nativity has a sheep, am wondering if any have multiple or assorted animals? Thinking along lines of a sheep herding design?
Response From Trailmaster:
Currently we do not have a Painted Pony design that features sheep or goats.

could you explain the numbering on the bottom of sounds of thunder, retired. 4E/0774. the 0774 is hand wrtitten. westland 2007 trail of tears. thank you.
Response From Trailmaster:
The first number before the "E" refers to the edition number. There are 10,000 figurines per edition. The second, hand-written number is the unique number of a figurine in that particular edition. A figurine with an edition number of 4E/0774 would be in the 4th Edition, number 774 out of 10,000.

Response From Trailmaster:
Please email a photo of the underside of your figurine's base to: info@paintedponies.com, and we will be happy to take a look at it for you.

We can't say precisely which winners will be available when, but some, at least, will be released in January 2023.

Have you considered blazing a few new trails? For example, trail of painted pachyderms or trail of painted dolphins? there are many other marketable species:)
Response From Trailmaster:
Back in the early 2000s, a large number of what were called "art parades" took place across the country. A community selected an animal that served as a mascot, invited artists to reimagine the form as a canvas, and the resulting art pieces were put on display and then auctioned and sold to raise money for deserving charities. You had cows, pigs, bears, flamingos, sheep, lizards, dogs, fish... and you even had angels, guitars, lighthouses, and hearts. The list goes on. In fact, The Trail published a book titled American Art Parades which featured almost one hundred of these public art projects. We were also consultants to a number of these communities, as many of them hoped to duplicate the success of The Trail of Painted Ponies by coming out with their own miniature figurines. But none had the broad appeal of the horse, and much of the art that was produced was whimsical. As a result, the companies in the business of manufacturing and distributing figurines did not feel any other animal would have the same popular appeal, nor that the artwork would be taken seriously. We do consider Painted Pony figurines as miniature works of art. As we approach our 20th anniversary, to our knowledge there are no other collectible collections in the marketplace that are premised on the idea of using animal forms as canvases to be painted by different artists.
