We try to answer questions daily. Questions are not posted until they are answered.

Here are answers to the commonly asked questions about where to resell Painted Ponies, and what their current value is:

When collectors choose to resell their Painted Ponies, we recommend doing so on eBay. There is also a Facebook group, which was set up by Painted Ponies collectors and is not monitored by The Trail of Painted Corporate Office, where you can offer your Painted Ponies for sale. Here is a link to that Facebook group:

To find the current perceived value of your Painted Ponies, we suggest searching on eBay for the same figurine with a similar edition number. If you have an eBay account, you can look up what that particular figurine has sold for recently, and that will give you an even more accurate perceived value.

What is the difference between a "large size" quarterhorse figurine and a "regular size" quarterhouse figurine? Why were different sizes made?
Response From Trailmaster:
At the risk of sounding flip, the short answer is "Three inches." For a brief period of time we experimented with a larger figurine size, and created a select number of figurines that stood 9 inches tall, instead of the classic 6 inches. Some collectors loved the larger size because they approximated fine art sculpture, but not enough for us to continue the collection. Today these pieces are quite rare.

Where can I purchase twighlight hunders No. 12262
Response From Trailmaster:
I believe we still have this Pony available on our Official Website Store, which can be accessed from the homepage of our website. If not, try Treasures from the Vault.

Do you do painted dog figurines? If not can you please look at starting this as I know many dog lovers who would love this.
Response From Trailmaster:
Thanks for sharing the idea. Ten years ago, when cities were putting on public art projects featuring an animal associated with their history, dogs were a popular canvas. Several were featured in the book we published,"American ArtParades." Check out the website: www.americanartparades.com.

I have a navajo blanket painted pony that starts 1B. Is that possible or do you think it was an error? Thank you!
Response From Trailmaster:
Human error. Navajo Blanket was one of the very early Painted Pony figurines, when the "penmanship" of the artisans hand-signing the Ponies needed practice.

I am looking for a pony that that resembles wood or has a wood grain theme. Could you help me locate some with this theme?
Response From Trailmaster:
You might want to take a look at "Wooden Toy Horse," a charming Holiday-themed Pony we came out with a couple of years ago.

I am the ride manager for the Benson Pony Express. Will the Trail ever do a Pony Express Commemorative Pony?
Response From Trailmaster:
Over the years we have received a number of clever Pony Express designs. Now that we have been reminded of them by your interest, we will go back and review.

I want to know if there is a figurine for the October photo shown on the 2013 calendar?
Response From Trailmaster:
The October Pony was scheduled to come out as part of the Happy Trails Collection, but since we have decided not to continue with the smaller figurines at this time, we will try to find a way to work it into a future release of classic figurines. The artist, Jennifer MacNeil-Traylor, did a hauntingly good job....

I recently came across a first edition tony curtis trail of painted pony "shiloh". From my understanding this celebrity line of ponies all featured edition numbers. I have seen others of this exact pony in the same store with numbers. This particular retired pony does not have an edition number. It appears as though they forgot to individually. Number it. Has anyone heard of this and does it what is a fair value for it?
Response From Trailmaster:
Since each Painted Pony figurine is hand-numbered, there are times when human error occurs. This is what must have happened.

Nancy from Carbondale, KS wrote on October 05, 2012:
Can you tell me the differences in Signed by Artist Signed Autographed Edition other than the Prices
Response From Trailmaster:
Sure. Although many people collect Painted Pony figurines purely for their look and the way the Ponies make them feel, there are also people who search for a way of differentiating their Painted Ponies, and adding value. There are three factors that determine this added value: the edition number, whether the Pony is retired, and if it has been hand-signed by the Artist. Among serious collectors, and for resale purposes, a signed Painted Pony that has a low-edition number and is retired has been known to sell for as much as ten times as its initial purchase price. Recognizing this, and as a way of preventing fake signatures from entering the marketplace, The Trail created an Official Autographed Edition. With each new release we send a certain number of very low edition figurines to the artist who created the original design for them to both hand-number and hand-sign, we compensate the artist fairly for their time, and we make these limited number of Officially Autographed Edition Ponies available on our Treasures from the Vault. To authenticate them, we also include a hand-numbered, hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity. The added effort and expense involved in creating an Autographed Edition, we feel, more than justifies their $75 price.

Karen Mobley from Tarpon Springs, FL wrote on October 02, 2012:
Did they make figurines for "Swiftness of an Eagle, Strength of a Bear", Anastazi Diaries" and "Colt of Many Colors?" If so, where can I buy them? Thanks, Karen Mobley
Response From Trailmaster:
No, we have not yet crafted the Painted Ponies you mention into figurines. But we keep all of them in mind, and perhaps we will someday....
