The Trail of Painted Ponies Announces Exciting New Art Competition/Challenge
Vital to the success, the longevity, and the popularity of The Trail of Painted Ponies has been the way it gives artists of all skill levels the opportunity to showcase their imaginations, and at the same time explore the extraordinary possibilities of the horse as a source of creative expression. This competition is designed to create fresh new artwork that will continue this distinguished legacy. A prize of $500 will be awarded to the winning design in each of five categories, with a $100 credit to the Official Trail of Painted Ponies Store awarded to the runner-up in each category. An online voting competition for the best overall design will then be held.

Deadline: Competition will run from Wednesday, May 1, 2019 through Sunday, June 16, 2019.

Prizes for each of the 5 categories: |

*The 1st Place $500 cash prize will also be the design fee, if a winning design is chosen to be crafted into a figurine, at any point in the future.
Voting: Online voting will take place on The Trail of Painted Ponies Official Website (www.paintedponies.com) beginning Monday, June 17, 2019. The 1st and 2nd Place winners in each of the 5 categories will be featured in the online voting, for a total of 10 selections to vote on. The top winner from the online voting will be announced on Monday, July 1, 2019, and will receive a merchandise prize package valued at $150. Merchandise prize package will include - a Triumphant Paint Your Own Pony, Low Numbered First Edition "Fire and Ice" figurine, American ArtParades Book, The Trail of Painted Ponies Adult Coloring Book - Native American Edition and a Ride the Sky book, all pictured below.

1) Native American: Our bestselling category, Native American Painted Ponies have expressed superb artistry, and been spiritually charged with dramatic colors and spiritually significant symbols. Examples of previously released Native American themed figurines are shown below.

2) Western: Designs, either traditional or contemporary, that somehow invoke the appeal of the Old West. Examples of previously released Western themed figurines are shown below.

3) Spiritual: We are leaving this category wide open. It can include everything from Mythological to Fantasy to Bereavement to Faith. Examples of previously released Mythological, Fantasy, Bereavement and Faith themed figurines are shown below.

Judging Criteria
Please keep in mind that judging criterion includes how successfully your design will translate into a 3-dimensional Painted Ponies figurine. Designs will be evaluated for beauty, the skill with which the design is rendered, the creative use of the horse form, the originality of the design and the concept or story behind the design.
